Wright’s Latest Auction Interesting and “Important Designs”

Auction Catalog June 9, 2011

Wright Auction House’s latest sale “Important Design” begins in two days. This auction features rare commissioned pieces to works produced in small editions. The auction highlights influential, innovative and historic designs from around the world. Looking over the lot, it would be easy to dismiss some of these pieces as being simplistic or odd. But what is important to remember when viewing art and design is the context in which the pieces are created. It is often art and design which bring about subtle shifts in the collect perspective and thus can bring about important social changes. I picked out some of my favorites from the auction lot — pieces I feel attribute to our current modern sensibilities.
