The first chair & Modernica’s fab five fiberglass crew: Armando Rocha, Serjik Keshesian, Raul Raygoza, Luis Garcia and Lennys Gonzales

At last, all the pieces were in place and today we crossed our fingers and decided to make some chairs. And I am happy to report, it was a huge success! There were smiles all around.

The first chair made was a white, side shell. Modernica’s fantastic crew of fiberglass technicians all signed the seat for posterity! Working in the new space, we made about 5 chairs in all today and things ran remarkably smooth.

It was a long day at the factory for me and I am posting this late. Next week, I will be showing you videos and giving you a more complete story. So stay tuned!

On a personal note, it has been an honor to be a part of this project and to be apart of Modernica’s commitment to the preservation of the Fiberglass shell chair. To the right is a photo of me, Modernica’s Social Media/Content Editor; Suzanne Stackle holding the first side shell chair. It was a cool moment in my life, and I wanted to share it with you.
