Author of The Story of Eames Furniture, Marilyn Neuhart and her husband John Neuhart reveal the interesting experiences they witnessed while working as longtime employees at the Eames office. Publisher Gestalten is promoting Marilyn Neuhart’s book with the following video interview of the couple. Gorgeous images of groundbreaking Eames furniture are included, along with tales only an insider could tell. The two worked in the Eames office for nearly 30 years.

There is a certain mythology that the Eames’ always, you know, built around themselves and I knew that the mythology was mythology. We knew all these people and they’ve never gotten a whole lot of credit for what they’d done and I thought it was a good opportunity to sort of fill in the gaps.- Marilyn Neuhart

Marilyn did an enormous amount of research for the book. She wanted to focus on the designers, who worked at the Eames’ offices, so she spent a lot of time traveling. It took her 13 years to complete the two volumes. The couple seemed to really enjoy the experience of creating the books and they are irresistibly charming. You may notice some similarities between them and the Eame’s.
