Paletten Haus built for "LinzFest" 2009

Modernica is offering free shipping on Case Study beds until April 30th. As a nod to our promotion, here is an innovative idea which recognizes our current global economy and seizes upon it’s cast offs to use as raw materials to help others in need.

Austrian designers Schnetzer Andreas Claus and Pils Gregor created Paletten Haus as a solution to meet the needs for housing in developing nations who do not have access to affordable building materials. Currently, the two designers are in South Africa working on a prototype.

The Paletten House is made out of reused shipping pallets. The 60 sq meter Palleten House is constructed from 800 recycled pallets. It is modular, energy efficient and affordable. Thus, making it a viable option for low-income housing. Now that is some good design karma.

Here the Pallet-Haus sits before the Architecture Center in Vienna.
