Swedish Spa Inspired Home

A home should be a sanctuary and the luxurious Mill House by Architect Gert Wingardh is a shining example of the combination of natural elements like water and wood to create a balance with one’s external and internal reality.

Hidden quietly in the rural setting of Southern Sweden rustic meets refined design to enable “a manifestation of the ritual of sauna and sunbathing,”  according to Gert.  The age-old practice is so loved the designer was compelled to incorporate living space into the spa-inspired structure.

Enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass with extensive woodwork both inside and out, the home boasts a warm appeal when regarded from the inside and out, and is surrounded by a cool pool for dipping after a good, hot steam.

Fascinating… Tremendous use of materials to express form! I’d love to see the hedges when they are mature and cover up their woven wood substructure.
