This video is a bit long (5 minutes). It is intended to show the nuances and the detail that goes into the process of creating each chair. This shows the chair after it has been shaped in the Preform machine. The chair is then carefully sculpted by a Fiberglass Technician to insure proper shape and weight. After this is achieved, the chair is placed onto the press and the resin is hand poured into the shape of the chair.

(The colors White and Natural are not included in the poll for obvious reasons. Additionally, the poll above contains some limited-edition colors that are not on Modernica’s standard color chart shown below. Imagination is required.)

    Hi Nancy, if you are interested in a side shell, please contact the showroom at 323-933-0383 or a lashowroom@modernica.net. I believe that they have some on the floor available for sale. Pink is a color that we will continue to run. Please keep checking back, our shell chair color availability will be updated on the blog, as well as Facebook and Twitter.

    Please, please: Indigo! have been waiting (patiently, perhaps) since the Fall for them to come back. Had I known they would disappear, I would’ve gotten them then and kept them piled up until our new house is ready- which is now next week. Still waiting, and hoping…fingers crossed that ‘someday’ is very soon! Until then, we’ll be eating picnic style…legs crossed, too.

    Jadeite!!

    This should be the next color all because, of, well, me! I placed an order for 8 of these chairs in September 2010 (from a dealer). When suggested repeatedly to pick another chair as the production date for shell chairs kept getting pushed back, I said (o.k., mainly to myself), “no, I must have the Jadeite Shell Chairs from Modernica.” It’s now been over 1 1/2 years. My children have doubled in size. Please, please confirm for me that good things come to those who wait.

    Mustard will be coming back… however, at this moment, I could not say exactly when. I can say that by the end of the summer all our previous colors will be available, and come this Fall we will be introducing new colors. Stay tuned!

    I have a pair of Zenith Plastics Co manufactured fibreglas DAX chairs. This decal is adhered to the underside of the seats: http://0.tqn.com/d/create/1/6/5/H/3/-/zenith-label.jpg

    The legs are steel and have seen better days. Do you sell replacement legs and would the legs actually fit my old chairs?

    Yellow will be released next week and available online to purchase on Wednesday. As for pink, I have not heard any plans of the time frame for new production. I do believe that they may have some older stock on the showroom floor. Please contact our Los Angeles showroom at 323-933-0383, to inquiry about the pink.

    Hi Carol,

    Production is running slower than anticipated. We are releasing Pink and Blue next week. After that the only colors missing from our original line up are Jadeite, Chiffon, and Mustard. Thank you for your continued patience. All the colors will eventually be back in production and available for sale.
