Pet Friendly Design
After having our Pets on Furniture Contest, there was no doubt people adore their pets. And with good reason, there is nothing quite like unconditional love and the calming effect these little buddies have on us. A new trend emerging in pet friendly design celebrates these four legged family members.
Writer Kim Johnson from Desire to Inspire blogs about design, has her own pets on furniture Mondays and designed a secret hatch in her home that leads to the little kitty’s room.
When Kim and her fiancé removed a wall separating the kitchen from the basement stairs, they replaced the door that leads to the sub level with a hatch in the floor. The floor panel includes a small pet door that Kim’s cats use to get to the litter box tucked away in the basement. Clever idea and I’m certain her nine cats appreciate the privacy as well.
Artisan Kitchens is also designing kitchen furniture with built-in feeding stations to keep things tidy.
