Modernica’s Grasshopper Chairs Looking Sharp in the Pages of Dwell – February 2012 Issue

2012 January 5

The Grasshopper chair and ottoman is based on Eero Saarinen’s chair of the same name, designed for Knoll in 1946. The Grasshopper is the first chair Saarinen designed in a series of sculptural chairs created for Knoll throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Knoll manufactured the chair and ottoman for nineteen-years, and ended its production in 1965. In 1995, Modernica re-engineered the Grasshopper chair and ottoman, improving upon its durability, thus making this chair available and an affordable piece of design history for the home and office.

Visually light, yet incredibly sturdy, the Grasshopper chair with its lean and angular lines, takes up little space with the eye. As a lounge chair the Grasshopper is an amazingly sturdy seat that provides excellent lumbar support for your back and a nice comfortable recline, to ease one into relaxation. The chair gives one a solid seating experience without a heavy look. It’s look; light, clean & thoroughly modern.

Love the look of this chair. My husband and I fawned over this house the other day when we flipped through Dwell :)
