From Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera to John Lennon and Yoko Ono, a passion for art brought these couples together inspiring, sometimes tumultuous, creativity for the world to judge, exploit and envy.  Here are some fascinating couples and their collaborations created for the love of art.

Edward Weston & Charis Wilson

Photographer Edward Weston was 48 years old and Charis Wilson had just turned 20 when they began working together.  They were well known for the series of nudes of Wilson at Oceano Dunes.  Wilson wrote “During photographic sessions, Edward made a model feel totally aware of herself. It was beyond exhibitionism or narcissism, it was more like a state of induced hypnosis, or of meditation.”

Andy Warhol & Basquiat

Before there’s an uproar, I am not certain these two were ever a couple but they had a unique partnership with very different styles that influenced and inspired each other.

Jeane-Claude & Christo

Born on the same day, same hour and same year, these twin Geminis made epic outdoor installations together transforming landscapes into fanciful masterpieces.  These two are what couples hope to achieve together, at least symbolically, expressing themselves without limits.  Have a look at what imagination, cooperation and love can create.

I have really always loved the work of Jeane-Claude and Christo! I wish I had gone to NY to check out the Central Park exhibit!
