Superstar Designer David Hicks dominated the 70′s interior design world with amazing patterns, color and texture.  His work inspired big name designers like Jonathan Adler and Kelly Wearstler.

Hicks’ design products are still available online distributed worldwide by Lee Jofa/Kravet.  New fabric, carpet and wallpaper are designed by Ashley Hicks who borrows from her father’s graphic style and strong color sense to carry on the legacy.

Here’s a flashback of some of his eye popping interiors.

Definately flashback time for me… I graduated from college in the early 70′s. As a young designer, I can remember drooling over his work. It’s fun to design in the “mid-century style” on projects today. I feel like I’m meeting an old family friend whom I haven’t seen in a long while.

I recently discovered Daniel Ogassian’s tile design work at a show in Los Angeles and I wanted to share it with you.

He designs futuristic wall and floor tiles with warm and organic textures that add depth to any surface.

This is his “Optic” tile from his concrete tile collection on the walls, the sink is by Alape: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2691/4489496037_c2528df575.jpg

These pictures are reall y great. The clothes of the era were cool as well. As for the ceramic tiles. A lot of tile from that time was discontinued. Ceramic was a big deal back then. There will be a lot of tile installed by my family’s work that will be here long after we are gone. It’s a great product that last and last.

As individual items, I’m not so convinced but when you see how those rooms look with all the pieces together it looks marvelous. A very graphic look!
