Celebrating Palm Springs Modernism Week

2013 February 15
by Modernica

Today is the start of one of the biggest celebrations of mid-century modern design in the world: Palm Spring’s Modernism Week. Described by some as the Mecca of Modernism, Palm Springs is abounding in Modern architecture, design, and culture. Every year the community hosts a week of shows, tours, and expos to celebrate the rich history and culture of Modernism. Vintage furniture and artwork from all over the world is also shipped in and available for sale. If you’re not able to make the show yourself, we’ll keep you updated here on our blog.

Learn more about the event on Modernism Week’s official website, and enjoy these photos from last year’s proceedings:

Great stuff !!! Love the trees. Why don’t you guys get a General Motors “Futureliner”, restore it, and take your show on the road. I’ll drive.

Just an update on the Futurliner:
    1. I spelled it incorrectly. So shoot me.
    2. I found a YouTube video on a recent auction of a fully-restored Futurliner. Turns out to be a Design Out Of Reach item. The owner was hoping for $600,000. It sold for $4,100,000. Oh my!
