A River Runs Through Times Square
2010 July 29
Heatwaves have taken over across the country and New York is finding a multitude of creative ways to stay cool. Brooklyn Artist Molly Dilworth dreams big and won the design contest to use Times Square as her canvas. She beat out 150 other contenders and perhaps the idea of cool water in the hot city gave her the advantage.
Intended to look like a river running through Manhattan, a crew of painters helped Dilworth create her life size illusion. Her design will stay up until the Department of Transportation begins construction on permanent plazas in the square.
